Description

45 Battery, Royal Field Artillery.

Born on 20th November 1890 in Kensington, London, Wilfrid Rogers was the younger son of Revd Alfred George Rogers and Mabel Fanny Gertrude, née Reynolds, of Gatton Rectory, Merstham, Surrey.

He was educated at Charterhouse. While at Merton he played cricket for the College.

Already serving at the outbreak of war, he spent the next three years in France. He was Mentioned in Despatches in 1917.

He was killed in action near Arras on 19th May 1917, aged 26, and posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Order on 4th June. He is buried at Tilloy British Cemetery, Tilloy-lès-Mofflaines, France.
