Description

10th (Reserve) Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment, attached to 69th Company, Machine Gun Corps.

Charles Woolnough was born 23rd June 1895 in Edmonton, London, the son of Charles Walter Woolnough, of Highgate.

He was educated at Highgate School, London, and came up to Merton in 1914.

He enlisted on 26th January the following year, and served in France. He was shot by a sniper while in action near Loos, on 21st March 1916, aged 20, and is buried at Tranchée de Meknès Cemetery, Aix-Noulette, Pas-de-Calais, France.
